Hours after a video of the wreckage of an MQ-9 drone surfaced on social media, the Houthis claimed they shot down the US drone. However, the US Army did not immediately comment on the matter.

Earlier, the Houthis claimed to shoot down the US drone. If today's claim is true, the US has lost another drone to the Houthis.

The price of this MQ-9 model drone is 3 million dollars. Which is more than 351 crores in Bangladesh money.

Houthi military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Surrey said their fighters shot down the drone on Thursday. It is used in Bhupati surface to air missile. A video of this attack will be released, he said.

The Houthi spokesman also said the drone was carrying out “sabotage activities” in Yemen's Marib province. Marib province is still under the internationally recognized government of Yemen.

The video, which has already surfaced on social media, shows similarities to parts of the MQ-9 drone.

News agency AFP contacted the US military in this regard, but they did not comment. The Houthis had earlier claimed that the drone had been shot down. But they proved to be wrong, AFP reported.

In 2014, Iran-backed Houthi rebels took control of northern Yemen, including the capital Sanaa. At least five US drones have been destroyed by insurgent attacks since then.

The MQ-9 drone can fly at an altitude of 50,000 feet and continuously for 24 hours.
