Bangladesh-Myanmar border under strict surveillance: Army chief

Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed said that the army is always ready to carry out its duties fearlessly in any situation including critical moments of the country, and the Bangladesh-Myanmar border situation is still under control. There is a strict surveillance of the Bangladesh Army. Army, Air Force and Navy are ready to protect the sovereignty of the country in any situation.

He said these things at the flag hoisting ceremony of the newly formed 129 Brigade Signal Company at Shariatpur's Sheikh Russell cantonment on Saturday (June 15). Before the start of the ceremony, Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed arrived by air from Barisal to Shariatpur's Sheikh Russell Cantonment at 12:10 PM.

The army chief said, our words are absolutely clear. There is no doubt that the Bangladesh Army is ready to resist any attack in the country in the future. The Coast Guard and BGB are there to prevent border violations, such as Rohingya infiltration. They are fully monitoring the matter. Measures are also being taken as per the instructions of the government. We are also ready, if the level closes then we will take appropriate measures.

He also said that the Bangladesh Army has been successfully performing its duties in the United Nations Mission. Currently Bangladesh Army members are working successfully in Kuwait and Qatar. In the future, the number of military personnel will be increased in these countries. Sheikh Russell cantonment is working round the clock for the security of Padma bridge.

New Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waqar-uz-Zaman, senior military officers of Army headquarters and senior army officers were present at the flag hoisting and cake cutting ceremony. Shariatpur-2 (Naria-Sakhipur) Constituency Member of Parliament AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nizam Uddin Ahmed and Superintendent of Police Md. Mahbubul Alam.
