Bangladesh Sharfuddaula is the umpire of the T20 World Cup matches

As the first umpire of Bangladesh, Sharfuddaula Ibn Shahid got a place in the elite panel of ICC. Now the name of Sharfuddaula is getting involved with another first.

47-year-old Sharfuddaula has been assigned the field umpire in the opening match of the T20 World Cup. His partner will be England's Richard Illingworth. The ICC confirmed the matter on their website on Wednesday (May 22).

Co-hosts USA and neighboring Canada will meet in the opening match of the T20 World Cup on the morning of June 2, Bangladesh time. Sharfuddaulai will become the first Bangladeshi to officiate a men's T20 World Cup match by taking the field at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas.

The high-voltage India-Pakistan match will also feature Bangladeshi beaches. However, instead of Onfield, he will perform the duties of the fourth umpire that day. However, he will be officiating the match in two different matches between India and Pakistan. Beach will take charge of India's match against Canada in Florida on June 15. And the next day in the Pakistan-Ireland match at the same ground, his role will be TV umpire.

In total, Saikat got the job of onfield umpire in four matches. He will perform the duty of TV umpire in two matches. He got the opportunity to manage the match as the fourth umpire in two more matches.

After the group stage, the Super Eight, Semi-Finals and Finals will be assigned later. It is certain that Saikat will be seen in multiple matches in the Super Eight as well.

Sharfuddaula has umpired in 5 matches in ODI World Cup held in India last year. Apart from this, she has also been seen in this role in two Women's ODI World Cups and the Women's T20 World Cup in 2018.
