Several countries including New Zealand have banned travel to Bangladesh due to the current political situation. As a result, the ICC has been forced to remove the Women's World Cup from Bangladesh. This time another bad news Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). New Zealand has canceled their scheduled tour of 'A' team to Bangladesh.
The New Zealand 'A' team was supposed to visit Bangladesh to play two four-day matches and three ODIs in September. The matches were supposed to be played at Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong and Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar.
But the Kiwis had to postpone the trip as New Zealand continued to ban its citizens from traveling to Bangladesh. This information was confirmed by Shahriar Nafis, in-charge of BCB Cricket Operations.
He said, due to travel precautions, the board has nothing to do. It is a state matter. Talking to them. The tour will not be cancelled. Hopefully, we can organize the series at some other convenient time.
The New Zealand team will tour India next October to play three Tests of the ICC Test Championship. They were looking at the 'A' team's tour of Bangladesh as a preparation for the series. In changed circumstances that is no longer the case. However, BCB is hopeful that the series will be organized sometime later.
