BJP's call for 12-hour 'Bangla bandh', Trinamool opposes

The BJP has called for a 12-hour bandh from 6 am to 6 pm in India's West Bengal tomorrow, Wednesday.

BJP's West Bengal President Sukant Majumdar announced the Bengal Bandh today on Tuesday. He said that the 'general strike' will continue from six in the morning to six in the evening on Wednesday.

Trinamool opposed this bandh. Trinamool leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh said, “It is a conspiracy against Bengal. Don't fall into any traps. There will be no Bengal Bandh in West Bengal tomorrow. Public life will be normal. Fail the Bengal bandh called by the BJP.''

On Tuesday, the police batoned the students who were agitating in the Navanna campaign. Tear gas, water cannons are fired. After this, the local BJP directly stood by the 'Chhatra Samaj'. They have called for a 12-hour state-wide strike on Wednesday to protest the police's 'oppression' of the 'peaceful' march of the students.

Trinamool leader Kunal Ghosh reacted after Sukant's announcement. He said, “is it a student movement? No anti-social movement? Are they students? Everyone saw who went to break the barricade. He did what was necessary to stop the maddened crowd. The police did not crack down. After this, the BJP has called for a strike in Bengal! Their masks have been revealed.

Incidentally, opposition leader Shuvendu Adhikari spoke about the Nabanna campaign on Tuesday afternoon as well. “Reports of atrocities are coming from many places,” he said while addressing the media outside the assembly. He also requested the West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police not to repress the peaceful movement. Otherwise, the opposition leader also warned of 'state shutdown' on Wednesday.

However, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's chief advisor Alapan Banerjee said that transport services will continue, shops and businesses will remain open. He requested the government employees of the state to be present at the workplace.
