European Union Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller met with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan in the capital.
In the meeting which started on Wednesday (October 8) at 11 o'clock, the member of the standing committee of the party and the member of the chairperson's foreign affairs advisory committee were also present on behalf of BNP. Abdul Moin Khan and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. Shama Obaid, Special Assistant on Foreign Policy and Organizational Secretary was also present.
According to party sources, the current political situation in the country, upcoming national elections, human rights situation and restoration of democracy issues are likely to be discussed in detail in the meeting.
A member of BNP's diplomatic wing said, Mirza Fakhrul in the meeting highlighted the need to ensure a fair and participatory election environment and sought the help of the European Union.
Political analysts see such diplomatic talks as a part of communication with the international community ahead of the upcoming national elections.
