'Can't win IPL by scoring 250, we are struggling to score 140'

Cricket Board (BCB) President and Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hasan Papon has expressed concern over Bangladesh's batting against Zimbabwe.

Papon came to Mirpur on Monday (May 6) to hand over the Dhaka League title. After handing over the trophy to Abahani Limited, he faced the media.

At this time, the country's biggest cricketer is facing questions about the Zimbabwe series and the World Cup. Zimbabwe could not hide their disappointment after seeing the batting in the first two matches of the series.

Papon said, 'We won two matches convincingly (supposedly) against Zimbabwe. As it is true, I don't like the batting. Batting is very scary.'

However, Papon praised the bowling department, 'I saw the two matches of the series against Zimbabwe, but the bowling did well. The way Saifuddin said after so long, the way Sheikh Mehdi said, Taskin seems to be devastating. Our Mustafiz has played very well in the IPL.

Bangladesh won the toss and fielded in both matches against Zimbabwe. The management did not have the courage to test their ability in the World Cup by batting earlier. Thanks to the bowling department, Zimbabwe were bowled out for just 124 runs in the first match. Bangladesh won by 8 wickets in 15.2 overs.

Zimbabwe scored 138 runs in the second match. Bangladesh played 18.3 overs to chase that. The top order batters failed. He could not finish the innings even after settling down playing slowly. In the end, Tawheed Hriday-Mahmudullah Riyad ended the match in a stormy innings. If Zimbabwe could field properly in the first match, the top order could collapse.

Basically Shanto's T20 batting approach is being discussed. At that time, the BCB president also brought up the topic of IPL, 'I can't understand anything after watching IPL this time. What is happening! Even if you do 250-60, you can't win. And what are we doing? We seem to be struggling to do 140-45.'

“There's a big gap with the way they're playing the game. This gap did not appear last time either. Even a year ago it didn't seem like the gap. There are some challenges here. I sincerely hope Liton Das returns to form soon. This is what we want. Not just Liton Das, everyone should be at their best and play. The most important thing is that if you want to play T20 now you have to play with courage'- added the BCB president.
