Chandpur in the upazila where the flood worsened

Waterlogging is increasing due to continuous rain in some upazilas of Chandpur. Meanwhile, the flood water has increased in Shahrasti and Hajiganj upazilas, but in Faridganj, due to the embankment of the irrigation project, the inundation has decreased somewhat. But if the rainfall increases, the suffering will increase. About 10,000 people have gone to shelters in three upazilas.

Shahrasti upazila executive officer Yasir Arafat said that hundreds of villages of six unions in Shahrasti are submerged in water.

Hajiganj upazila executive officer Tapas Sheel said that in Hajiganj, half a hundred villages of four unions were inundated by flood water. Dry food and rice are being distributed to the affected and waterlogged people through regular monitoring. Water is coming down through Dakatiya river. The flood situation will be brought under control soon.

Jewel Rana, a resident of Hajiganj upazila, said that they have been providing relief assistance to Gandharbyapur North and South Union for the past few days.

District relief and disaster management officer Hedayetullah said that the residents of 64 unions in Chandpur are suffering due to waterlogging. 214 metric tons of rice and 7.5 lakhs in cash have been given from the administration.
