Chhatra League leader's body found in Sublet house

The police recovered the body of a student named Shayla Shikder (22) from a house in Rasul Bagh, Lalbagh of the capital. It is said that Shayla was a second year student of Eden College and a Chhatra League leader.

Police recovered his body on Thursday (29 August) morning and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

He lived in a sublet room on the sixth floor of a house on Rasulbagh Road in Lalbagh Police Station. His house is in Dhankhali village of Kalapara police station of Patuakhali. His father's name is Al Amin Shikder. Shayla was the vice-president of the Chhatra League of Kalapara police station.

Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector (SI) Lalbagh Police Station Ajay Krishna Pal said Shayla lived in a sublet on the sixth floor of a house on Rasulbagh Road in Lalbagh. On August 27, he went home around 11 pm. Then on August 28 around 10 am, his girlfriend Khushbu Akhter went to her house and saw Shayla hanging with a fan and a noose around her neck. After receiving the information through him, the police went to that house around 4:15 pm. Later, his body was recovered and sent to the morgue for post-mortem.

He said that his girlfriend said that he was a second year student of Eden College and vice president of Kalapara Thana Chhatra League. Initially, I think he committed suicide by hanging himself. The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy report.
