While fleeing to India, former Central General Secretary of Chhatra League Ishaq Ali Khan was strangled to death and multiple injuries were found on his body, police sources said.

According to reports, former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Awami League leader Ishaq Ali Khan Panna – who fled the country after the fall of Hasina's government – was found dead near the Bangladesh border in Meghalaya, the Meghalaya Police said in a press release on Thursday.

The semi-decomposed body of Ishaq Ali Khan Panna was found in a betel nut orchard in Dona Bhoi village of East Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya on August 26, Meghalaya Police said. This area is one and a half kilometers from the India-Bangladesh border. Sources also said that the body was identified from the passport carried by Panna.

Several police sources also said that the post-mortem report said that he died due to suffocation. According to the report, 'the cause of death was asphyxiation due to suffocation'. Sources also said that his body has been sent for forensic analysis.

According to police sources, Ishaq Ali Khan Panna also has multiple injury marks on his body. The post-mortem report also mentioned that he had bruises and bruises on his forehead.

Incidentally, since Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country on August 5, Ishaq Ali Khan Panna was hiding in the capital Dhaka. Later he decided to cross the border from Sylhet to India.
