Educational institutions were closed for more than 20 days this year due to various natural disasters including severe heat wave. Recently, educational institutions were closed for almost two weeks due to severe heat wave. Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel has said that schools may be kept open on Friday if necessary to meet the shortage of students during this closure.
The education minister said that we now have 185 school days in a year. Out of this, 20 days are reserved for evaluation of the new curriculum. If the working day of the school is further reduced, classes will be held on Fridays if necessary to keep the educational program running.
This information was reported on the verified Facebook page of the Ministry of Education on Sunday (May 5) quoting the minister.
Earlier, on April 30, the education minister had said similar things while talking to reporters at the ministry. On that day, he said, if the school day is reduced, then schools can be kept open on Friday if necessary to keep the educational program running. However, a day later, the Ministry of Education said that no final decision has been taken to hold classes on Friday.
