A college student drowned in the Durga Sagar during Punya Sannotsava at Madhavpasha in Babugonj, Barisal. Mandeep Mandal (18), son of Sagar Mandal of Oxford Mission Road area of Barisal city, died at around 12:30 on Tuesday. He was studying HSC in Govt Syed Hatim Al College.
The deceased's father said that all the family went to Durgasagar from their house in the city for the purpose of bathing. Around 12 o'clock his son went down to take a bath and was drowning. At this time other devotees quickly rescued him and brought him to the Ghatla of Durgasagar. From there, the doctor declared him dead when he was brought to the emergency department of Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital.
