Committee of DSCC to ensure housing of cleaners

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is taking initiatives to ensure housing for cleaners. For this, the organization has already formed a committee of 8 members including two representatives of anti-discrimination student movement.

On Sunday (September 8), Dhaka South City Corporation informed this information. Earlier, DSCC Secretary Mohammad Bashirul Haque Bhunya issued an office order and approved the 8-member committee.

Secretary of DSCC said that a decision has been taken to inform the local government department with the aim of providing the necessary financial allocation along with marking the construction sites of two 10-storey buildings in Mironjalla and two 10-storey buildings in Ganakatuli in order to ensure housing arrangements for cleaners belonging to the Harijan community under the jurisdiction of Dhaka South City Corporation. Besides, an 8-member committee has been formed to verify the feasibility and send recommendations.

It is known that in this committee of 8 members, the supervising engineer of environment, climate and disaster management circle of Dhaka South City Corporation has been made the convener and the executive engineer (PUR) of DSCC region 3 has been made the member secretary.

The remaining members of the committee are property officer of Dhaka South City Corporation, Central Coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Abdullah Salehin Ayan, Central Coordinator Hasib Al Islam, President of Muslim Community Social Development Committee, President of Mironjalla-Ganakatuli Staff Quarter Harijan Social Development Committee and Mironjalla-Ganakatuli Staff Quarter Harijan. General Secretary of Social Development Committee.

According to Dhaka South City Corporation sources, the committee formed will be able to co-opt the required number of members for the sake of work. The formed committee has to submit a report within 15 working days with recommendations and specific proposals regarding the construction of flats by determining the location.
