A couple died after being run over by a reckless truck in Savar's Ashulia. The accident happened in front of Incepta Pharmaceuticals on Bishmail-Jirabo regional road in Ashulia on Tuesday (April 16) night.
The deceased couple is Delwar (32), son of Abdur Rahman of Puntimara village of Singra police station of Natore district and his wife Hasi Begum (28). Both of them worked in a local garment factory called Ratul.
According to the police, the couple had come to Savar from Natore to join the workplace after Eid holidays. They got off the bus at Savar's Bishmail area and started for Jirabo on an easy bike.
On the way in front of Incepta Pharmaceuticals, a speeding truck hit the Easybike. The couple was seriously injured. Later, passers-by rescued Jirabo PM in a bloody state and brought him to the hospital for treatment.
Doctor Mustafa of Jirabo PMK Hospital said that two people were brought to the hospital in a road accident at night. But they died on the way, he said.
Ashulia police station duty officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Masud said, Ashulia police station recovered the bodies of the victims after receiving the information. The police officer said that legal action will be taken after talking to the families of the victims.
