A high-speed pursuit in Fort Worth, Texas, has left a driver seeking accountability after his vehicle was totaled in a collision with a car driven by a suspect being chased by police, local reports state.
NBC5 obtained dashcam footage from an incident on July 11 showing Clarence Mosley’s car being struck by a red truck, resulting in significant damage and raising questions about police pursuit tactics.
Mosley, a U.S. Navy veteran, was driving home from the Lake Worth area on July 11 when he was struck by the vehicle, NBC5 reported.
“All I saw was the red flash of the truck, and an airbag just popping me in the face,” Mosley recounted. Video captured by another driver shows the red truck, driven by 26-year-old Trevor Davila, swerving across lanes and crashing into Mosley’s vehicle.

According to NBC5, Davila has since been accused of stealing the truck and charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest.
According to police, Davila had been spotted in the vehicle and initiated the chase after ramming a police vehicle. The pursuit lasted nearly 30 minutes, according to Kera News.
The pursuit ended near NW 28th Street and McKinley Avenue after police deployed spike strips to stop Davila’s vehicle, according to NBC5. The channel reported that police say Davila then crashed into a business and attempted to steal another car at gunpoint.
Police said that when he refused to surrender his weapon, officers fired multiple rounds, striking Davila several times. Davila was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Mosley, who was also taken to the hospital after the collision, expressed frustration over the incident, telling the outlet that it left him with a totaled vehicle and more than $14,000 in costs.
Mosley told NBC5 he was angry “just the simple fact it happened.” While Mosley acknowledges the actions of Davila as the primary cause, he questions whether police could have taken additional measures to prevent bystanders from being caught in the crossfire.
“What was their policy?” Mosley asked, referring to the Fort Worth Police Department’s vehicle pursuit guidelines. “Did they have enough time to have somebody blocking the road to keep the person from trying to advance from there?”
Mosley believes he was inadvertently made “collateral damage” and is urging for greater transparency on police chase procedures.
Newsweek has reached out to the Fort Worth Police Department via email for comment.
