The coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement, Sarjis Alam, commented that the decision to cancel the postponed HSC and equivalent exams of 2024 is not logical.
He made this comment in response to a question from the journalists of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital on Tuesday (August 20) night. Sarzis said, 'The decision to cancel the examination is not logical. Various groups are taking to the streets with absurd demands in different guises. They have different objectives. Their movement path is not correct. The students protested after their backs against the wall.
Earlier in the afternoon, the government decided to cancel the HSC and equivalent exams, which were suspended in the face of the demands of the candidates. A notification signed by Inter Education Board Coordination Committee President Tapan Kumar Sarkar informed that due to unavoidable reasons, the postponed examinations of HSC and Equivalent Examination 2024 have been cancelled. Requested to take necessary action in this regard. Hasnat Abdullah, the coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement, had already informed about accepting the demands of the examinees to cancel the examination. Hasnat said in the secretariat, 'The demand for cancellation of the postponed examination has been accepted. The results of the rest of the subjects will be decided through subject mapping. How the evaluation will be decided will be informed later.
Earlier in the morning, in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud, the examination of HSC and other equivalent subjects was postponed by 2 weeks. As per the decision, the rest of the exams are to be held on half-answer basis. That is, if earlier one had to answer 8 questions, now four questions have to be answered at the same time.
After this decision, a group of HSC examinees entered the secretariat and started a protest demanding cancellation of the examination. At one point they took a stand in front of the Ministry of Education. Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah assured the peaceful solution of the students' demands.
Incidentally, on June 30, the HSC and equivalent examinations began across the country. Due to the violence surrounding the quota reform movement, the exams on July 18, 21, 23 and 25, 28 and August 1 and 4 were postponed. Finally, the exam was scheduled to be held from August 11. Later it was also suspended.
