Diamond World MD Dilip Aggarwala in Jail

The court has ordered Dilip Kumar Agarwala, Managing Director (MD) of Diamond World Limited, to be sent to jail after remand in the case of the alleged murder of a teenager named Hriday Ahmed (16) in Badda of the capital during the anti-discrimination student movement.

After the three-day remand on Saturday (September 7), the investigating officer of the case, Badda Police Station Sub-Inspector Md. Sadek requested to produce the accused in the court and keep him in jail. In view of his application, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi's court ordered this remand.

The defense lawyers sought his bail. The State opposes it. After hearing both sides, the court rejected the bail application of the accused and ordered him to be sent to jail.

Badda police station Assistant GRO SM Zahirul Islam confirmed this information.

In the application for remand, the investigating officer of the case mentioned that as per the directions of the High Court, the accused has been extensively interrogated. During the interrogation, some information about the murder case was obtained from the accused. Along with this information, the name and address of the accused is being verified for the sake of proper investigation of the case. If the accused is released on bail, there is a possibility of obstructing the investigation of the absconding case. In such a case, in the interest of fair investigation of the case, till the conclusion of the investigation proceedings, it is necessary to remand him in jail.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Dilip Kumar Agarwala from Gulshan in the capital last September 3. On September 4, Dhaka Metropolitan ordered the accused Dilip Kumar Agarwala to be remanded for 3 days.

According to the complaint of the case, Hriday was shot dead in front of BRAC University under Badda police station at around 2 pm on July 19 during the anti-discrimination student movement. A person named Shahadat Hossain Khan filed a case against 161 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in this incident.
