Dipu Moni remanded for four days

After a four-day remand in a murder case of Mohammadpur police station, the police got permission to interrogate former minister Dipu Moni for another four days in a case of killing a person in Badda.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim granted Dipu Moni's four-day remand on Saturday.

On this day, the police applied to remand Sumon Sikdar for 10 days in the case of murder at Badda police station in the capital. At this time, an application was made for canceling the remand and asking for bail. On the other hand, the state party opposes bail. After hearing both sides, the court granted his 4-day remand.

Earlier, Dipu Moni was arrested from Baridhara on August 19. The next day, the court granted Dipu Moni's four-day remand in the case of the killing of Abu Sayed, a grocery shopkeeper in the capital's Mohammadpur, in the indiscriminate shooting of students during the anti-discrimination movement on August 20.

A person named Suman Sikdar (31) was shot dead on the north side of Fuji Tower in Badda's Pragati Sarani on July 19 during the anti-discrimination student movement. In this incident, his mother Masuma filed a murder case as the plaintiff. 179 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Dipu Moni were accused.

Awami League joint secretary Dipu Moni and his brother have also been booked for sabotage in Chandpur. 382 people including Dipu Moni's elder brother Wadud Tipu have been accused in this case. 1200 people have been made unknown accused.

Dipu Moni, Bangladesh's first woman Minister of Foreign Affairs and Education, has been a Member of Parliament from Chandpur-3 Constituency since 2008. In the last 12th parliamentary elections, he got the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Welfare.
