Dividing Bangladesh on the basis of religion or party is extremely unfair: Jamaat Amir

Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami said that Jamaat is working to ensure the rights of people of all religions. Shafiqur Rahman said, 'It is extremely unfair to divide Bangladesh on the basis of religion or party. I as an individual and the people in my team are not above mistakes. If someone does not point out the mistake, then I will consider the mistake to be pure and I will stand on it. We encourage and welcome this place. Probably as much as we've been ripped off, be it true or false, I don't think any other team has done it.'

He said these things in an exchange of views with journalists in the capital on Wednesday (August 28).

Amir Shafiqur Rahman of Jamaat-e-Islami also commented that Jamaat does not believe in revenge and will remain objective if it comes to power. He said that the political parties have failed to fulfill the expectations of the people.

Shafiqur Rahman also commented that Jamaat leaders and activists have been tortured the most in the last 15 years. He said that the media was not independent so the country has gone backward.

Referring to the ongoing case, he said, “The way the murder case is being prosecuted, the main accused can get away and innocent people get trapped.”
