Doctors' demands are reasonable, efforts are on to find a quick solution: Hasnat Abdullah

Hasnat Abdullah, the coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement, commented that the four-point demand given by the doctors was reasonable. He said that the four point demands made by the doctors are reasonable. Best efforts are being made to resolve quickly. There is no substitute for the contribution of doctors or their professionalism in the service of humanity.

He said these things after a meeting with doctors on strike at the administrative block of Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital on Sunday (September 1) afternoon.

Hasnat Abdullah said, strongly condemn and protest the attack on doctors. These attacks took place in different parts of the country. Those involved in the attack should be brought to justice if they rise above ideals like political parties. They must ensure that their place of professionalism is always safe. If for some reason the doctors do not feel safe in their workplace then it is not possible to provide proper care to the patients.

He also said that the meeting discussed the four point demands made by the doctors. The authorities seem very positive about these claims. We hope these issues will be resolved as soon as possible.

Earlier on Saturday (August 31) night at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, private university student Deeptar died due to medical negligence and attacked the doctors. Protesting against this, the doctors stopped medical services at Dhaka Medical from night. The patients suffered because of this. However, it has been decided to suspend the indefinite strike of doctors of government and private hospitals for 24 hours. In the afternoon, doctors sat in a meeting with Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The agitating doctors will suspend their strike for 24 hours if they assure the arrest of those who attacked the consultant doctor.
