Donald Lu is coming to Dhaka


US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu is visiting Bangladesh via India and Sri Lanka in the middle of this month. His six-day visit to the region began on Friday (May 10).

According to the US State Department, Donald Lu will visit India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on May 10-15. Washington expects that bilateral relations between the United States and the countries will be strengthened through his visit. The US wants to see a free, independent and prosperous Indo-Pacific region, which will be the focus of Donald Lure's visit.

Donald Lu will come to Dhaka on a two-day visit on May 14. During the visit, he will hold meetings at various government and private levels.

Regarding Donald Lu's visit to Dhaka, Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen said that Lu's upcoming visit to Dhaka is to discuss the progress of Dhaka-Washington relations after the pre-election discomfort. It will be his (Donald Lu) first visit after the formation of the new government. The picture that was there before the election, the picture now is completely different.

The foreign secretary said that the new government has been formed. A stable government. The government is carrying out regular activities. We are advancing relations with different countries. So all countries want to associate with us.

Regarding possible discussions during Donald Lu's visit, the Foreign Secretary also said that Bangladesh has many structures for discussion and dialogue with the United States. How to make them more active will be discussed. Elections are ahead in the United States. Of course the Rohingya issue will be discussed.
