'Don't just boast, cancel all harmful projects of India' – Bangladesh Diplomat

Economist Anu Muhammad urged the interim government to cancel all the harmful projects of India instead of just whining. He made this call before starting the '71 to 24 Victory Struggle: 53 Years of Struggle Commemoration Walk' program led by Democratic Rights Committee on Friday (December 20) afternoon.

Professor Anu Muhammad said, I will tell those who are associated with the government, it is not enough to shout against India. Arrangements should be made to cancel the specific projects that India has to harm Bangladesh.

He said, many are talking against India, but Rampal power plant which is destroying Bangladesh; Not talking about canceling it. We demand its cancellation. The Rooppur nuclear power plant is being built under the management of India even though it is funded by Russia. India's dominance is also in this Rooppur nuclear power project. I demand the cancellation of this horrible project. I demand an end to border killings.

He also said, I demand from the Bangladesh government that no minority or people of the country should be oppressed. Action should be taken against those who are indulging in mob violence, coercion, along with the trial of the July killings.

Professor Anu Muhammad also said that in 2006, garment workers protested for their wages. In 2006, 20 people were martyred in the massive movement of farmers. Three people were martyred in the Fulbari uprising. In 2007, a movement was formed against the attack on Dhaka University. In 2008, the Awami League came to power and abolished the caretaker government system in order to perpetuate the power. Since 2014, no elections have been held one after the other.

He said that there is a movement against the agreements made with national resources including oil, gas, coal. The movement to protect the Sundarbans, the movement against the Rampal power plant united the people of Bangladesh in a big way. Besides, the movement to protect democracy, the movement to establish democracy, the movement of teachers-students-farmers-workers-women of Bangladesh have been created in this country. On the strength of the movement, a grossly corrupt government was overthrown in a mass coup last July-August. Through this, the people of Bangladesh have once again proved that they have the supremacy of autocracy, but the resistance and strength of the people, the unity of all to build Bangladesh, the desire to build Bangladesh without discrimination, people have never given up. That fight continues and we have organized this padayatra today with the message of continuing that fight.

This economist said, India, China, USA, Pakistan, whatever the name of foreign ruling class imperialism is called, this country will not accept the domination of anyone. I will demand those who are in power today to play a proper role in these areas of non-discrimination Bangladesh. Within two months of the formation of the government, we have informed the government by listing the urgent tasks of the government. I reviewed it after three months. We will review again after six months.

Later, the procession started from the central Shahid Minar towards Bahadur Shah Park. People from different professions participate in it.
