Dr.  Rangpur's case against Yunus is adjourned in the High Court


Dr. Nobel laureate economist accused of violating the labor law. The High Court has suspended the proceedings of the case filed against six people including Muhammad Yunus in the Rangpur Labor Court. Besides, the court has issued a ruling on the validity of this case.

Tuesday (April 30) Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md. Atabullah High Court bench gave this order.

Court Dr. Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun argued for Yunus. Barrister Khawaja Tanveer Ahmed was with him. Deputy Attorney General Tushar Kanti Roy and Assistant Attorney General Anich Ul Mawa appeared for the state.

Earlier, the founding chairman of Grameen Krishi Foundation accused of violating the labor law. A writ was filed against six people including Muhammad Yunus seeking suspension of the case filed in the Rangpur Labor Court.

In 2021, the founding chairman of the Grameen Krishi Foundation, the Nobel-winning economist, accused of violating the labor law. A case was filed against six people including Muhammad Yunus in Rangpur Labor Court. Golam Mostafa, retired senior farm manager of Grameen Krishi Foundation filed the case.

The other accused in the case are Grameen Krishi Foundation Board of Directors Chairman Noor Jahan Begum, Managing Director (Acting) Shamsud Doha, Board Members Imamus Sultan, Ratan Kumar Nag and Shah Jahan.

Shamim Al Mamun, the plaintiff's lawyer in the case, said that the plaintiff in the case is seeking to recover Tk 9 lakh 75 thousand 125 compensation for retirement gratuity and earned leave Yunus and six others have filed a case as defendants.

The plaintiff in the case, Golam Mostafa Gaibandhar, was working as a farm manager of the Grameen Krishi Foundation unit office in Gobindganj upazila. At that time the plaintiff was forced to retire without payment of retirement gratuity and encashment of accrued leave. Besides, he alleged that the company has been hesitating to pay the dues.
