Interim Government of Bangladesh Chief Advisor Dr. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has sent a letter to Muhammad Yunus. In the letter, he called for improving the relations between the two countries.

According to the Office of the Chief Adviser on Monday, Shehbaz Sharif said in his letter, “I believe, we now have an opportunity to further enhance our bilateral and regional relations. It is very important for the social and economic development of the people of South Asia.”

He also mentioned that Pakistan wants to establish a strong and friendly relationship with Bangladesh, which will bring positive changes in the lives of the people of both countries.

After the Liberation War in 1971, East Pakistan became independent and formed a new state called Bangladesh. Awami League led the liberation war. After the Awami League came to power in 2009, the trial of the 1971 war criminals began, which worsened relations with Pakistan.

After the fall of the Awami League government in August 2024, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave the country and currently takes refuge in India.
