Drawing competition for autistic children and distribution of Eid gifts


April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. Like every year, the day is celebrated in Bangladesh like other countries to create social awareness about autism and establish their rights. The theme of the day is 'Awareness-Recognition-Valuation: A journey from mere survival to prosperity'.

On the occasion of Autism Awareness Day, Beit Alpha Autistic Foundation held a discussion meeting, drawing competition with more than two hundred autistic children and distributed Eid gifts to them at Mirpur in the capital on Tuesday (April 2).

Actor and photographer Shankar Saojal, the chief guest of the program, said that autistic children need a separate space where they can share their thoughts.

President of the program, brave freedom fighter Anwarul Islam said, “I learned how to manage the daily activities of children by going to the liberation war. That is why autistic children should be taught minimum basic tasks. Child's likes, dislikes, likes should be given importance. Make a list of these things and inform all the family members and school teachers and coaches.

Also speaking as a special guest – Narayanganj Fine Arts Faculty Principal Samchul Alam, Dhaka University Fine Arts Ceramics Faculty Professor and painter Md. Rabiul Islam.

In the speech of the special guest, social activist Suman Shams, chairman of Angar Trust, said that children with autism should be refrained from physically harming them. Children should be treated in a nice, simple manner. They are our children. They have to arrange sports. They should be given opportunities to develop their latent talents through cultural activities. It is the responsibility of every person in the society to make autistic children capable and functional by giving them care and love without neglecting them.

Creative director Kajal Arefin Ami, actor and Duck Bucks Foundation president Ziaul Haque Palash were also present at the time. Painter Ashraful Kabir Kanak conducted the painting workshop and exhibition. Foundation President Armin Soma and Vice President Ramer Morshed were in overall supervision of the arrangement.
