Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country after resigning on August 5 in a student uprising. On that day, thousands of people attacked the Kotwali police station in Chittagong city with a procession from the students' movement. On that day, weapons were looted and vandalized and the police station was burnt. A case has been filed in that incident. 40,000 people including anonymous people have been accused.
Inspector (Investigation) of Kotwali police station Ripon Kumar Das filed the case as the plaintiff on Friday (August 23) afternoon. It is alleged in the case that on August 5, the assailants looted and set fire to the police station. In this, the important documents of the police station and sensitive evidence of the case were burnt. Besides, huge arms and ammunition were looted.

Incidentally, from last July 16 to this August 5, Bangladesh was in turmoil. It started around the quota reform movement. Which later turned into a one-point demand for the downfall of the government. Sheikh Hasina's government was finally forced to leave power in the face of the mass uprising of the students. Six hundred people, including children and women, were killed by law and order forces in the movement. Thousands of people were injured. Among them are members of law enforcement.
In the preliminary report on the movement, the United Nations Human Rights Commission says that 650 people, including 32 children, were killed across the country from July 16 to August 11. The report cites allegations of serious and credible human rights violations against the Bangladeshi security forces.
