Electricity and gas prices will not increase: Advisor

Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan said that the process of increasing the price of electricity and gas will be stopped by the executive order.

He told reporters after the first meeting with officials of the Electricity and Energy Department on Sunday (August 18) afternoon. After the meeting with the Road Transport and Highways Department this morning, the advisor held a three-hour meeting with the officials of the Electricity and Energy Department after 2:00 pm.

When a journalist started to speak by thanking him on the occasion of his new responsibility, he stopped him and mildly criticized the media. And the great man is making people rogue. But don't do it. You will also work according to public expectations, we will also work according to public expectations. We need to get out of the culture of praise. You have seen how it is in danger. “Sir” once before the word, “sir” once after, four-five times “sir” in one sentence will not work anymore. I have also told this to the officials of the ministry.

Stating that this government has come in exchange for the blood of the students, Fawzul Kabir Khan said that the current government's job is to fulfill the hopes of the people. That is, our main goal will be cost reduction. Protecting public interest and public expectation will be our main task.

Commenting that the suffering of the people has increased due to the repeated increase in electricity and gas prices, the advisor said, therefore, no decision will be taken which will increase the suffering. We will not raise prices unless we are forced to. If necessary, the commission will talk to everyone and take a decision following the policy.

Fawzul Kabir said that all ongoing activities under the special law for increasing the rapid supply of electricity and energy have been suspended for the time being, but the agreements already executed under this special law, known as the immunity provision, will remain in force and a decision will be taken after reviewing the agreements. Because, since the contract has been made, it cannot be canceled at will. For this, the legal aspect should be looked into.

Regarding the cancellation of the controversial law, the electricity and energy advisor said, for this, we need to talk to the advisory council. A decision will be taken considering the overall situation. But whatever decision is taken, it will reflect the expectations of the people.

Fawzul Kabir said about the contract tariff in the special law, everything of the previous government has to be canceled, it is not like that. The works that are good will remain. Projects which are unnecessary will be eliminated. Because, continuity in the government must be maintained.

Fawzul Kabir said regarding the contract-based recruitment due to political considerations, everyone cannot be excluded in a blanket manner. People will be needed for the work. If someone has committed an irregularity before, he should be given a chance. I have told the officials, they will work according to their own mind as before, it will not be like that. Now we have to think, we have to act in such a way that the people's expectations will be met by doing any work.

Fawzul Kabir Khan said regarding the gas crisis in the face of the journalists, I have instructed the Chairman of Petrobangla to know the specific time for the operation of the summit terminal.

Incidentally, Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan is in charge of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources as well as the Advisor to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Ministry of Railways.
