Eid-ul-Fitr holiday starts from April 10. As a result, Tuesday, April 9 is the last working day. So customers were seen waiting in long queues in banks before the holidays. And the officials are struggling to provide services under the pressure of withdrawing cash.
On Monday (April 8), long queues were seen in front of the cash and deposit counters in Bankpara Motijheel and Dilkusha, Dainik Bangla, Paltan and other areas of the capital since morning. Three-four times more transactions compared to normal days. Withdrawals have been made along with the lines for submitting invoices, deposits and bills for various services. Most are withdrawing cash. Customers are being paid on demand, there is no shortage of cash. But the crisis has arisen in the case of new notes. Everyone is asking for new notes. The cash counter officers are having a hard time due to the pressure of this additional customer.
Customers of Sonali Bank said that new notes are used for salami on the morning of Eid and for various purposes during Eid. That's why every person needs to withdraw new notes.
Another customer said that he is a native of Dhaka. Eid shopping is not done yet. The market was not crowded due to crowding. He came to withdraw money because he wants to go shopping tonight. He also demanded new notes of around ten thousand rupees to the bank.
An official of Sonali Bank Motijheel branch said that the presence of customers is high as it is the last moment of Eid. Tomorrow will be more crowded. But in the end, the amount of withdrawal is more than the deposit. And the biggest problem is the new notes. Everyone wants new notes. But it is not possible to give so many notes. So everyone has to manage more or less.
