The government plans to issue National Identity Cards (NID) to 14 million expatriate Bangladeshis living in 40 countries. In continuation of this, the NID program is going to start in Kuwait.
For this purpose, a discussion meeting was held regarding voter registration and issuance of national identity cards to expatriate Bangladeshis living in Kuwait. On Friday (April 5) at 10 am local time, Bangladesh Ambassador Major General Mohammad Ashikuzzaman presided over the exchange meeting organized at the Bangladesh Embassy located in Misila area of Kuwait.
A technical team of 10 members of Bangladesh Election Commission assisting in the voter registration and National Identity Card (NID) issuing process, Bangladesh Embassy officials and expatriate Bangladeshis participated in the meeting chaired by Embassy Administrative Officer Jahangir Alam.
Representatives of the Election Commission said that expatriate remittance fighters are playing an exemplary role in keeping the wheels of the country's economy moving. Respecting their wishes, the government has expanded the NID program.
To those who are interested in getting national identity card, they said that the responsible officer will help you when you come to the Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait with all the necessary documents.
Election Commission officials answered various questions of expatriate Bangladeshis in the exchange meeting. In response to the question of what kind of documents should be brought to get the national identity card, Election Commission officials said that online application, birth certificate, copy of valid passport and two passport size photographs will be required.
However, they also informed that no work of NID correction can be done from Kuwait Embassy.
Ambassador Major General Mohammad Ashikuzzaman requested expatriates to cooperate with accurate information to make the NID program of the government successful.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Election Commission's leaflet has been published with the slogan 'Smart national identity card, identity pride'. It outlines the documents required to register the national identity card of expatriate Bangladeshis who are eligible to be voters.

2. Expired Bangladeshi passport
3. Online Birth Certificate
4. Recent passport size color photograph
5. Education Certificate (if applicable)
6. Parent's NID/Death Registration or Certificate
7. Nikahnama/Kabinnama and NID of spouse (if married)
8. Driving License/TIN (if applicable)
9. Citizenship Certificate (Mayor/Councillor/Chairman/CEO—in case of Cantonment area)
10. Copy of utility bill (electricity/water/gas bill/holding tax receipt of constituency address)
11. Dual citizenship certificate issued by Department of Defense Services, where applicable
