Explosion in Sitakunda, 10 workers burnt – Bangladesh Diplomat

In Chittagong's Sitakunda Shipwreck Factory, a terrible explosion took place in the pump room of a scrap ship during cutting work. 10 workers were burnt and seriously injured.
On Saturday (September 7) at noon, the explosion took place in the shipbreaking factory named SN Corporation owned by Shaukat Ali Chowdhury, located on the sea coast of Sheetalpur Tentultala area of ​​Sonaichari Union.
The officer in charge of the shipwreck factory confirmed that 10 workers were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for treatment. Shaukat Azad However, he said that he does not know the names of any of the 10 workers who were burnt.
According to factory workers and local sources, the workers were cutting scrap ships in the shipwreck factory in the afternoon. During the cutting work inside the ship's pump room, suddenly there was a terrible explosion in a tank there. In addition to the explosion, the surrounding of the factory shook. At that time, 10 workers who were working inside the pump room were seriously injured due to fire. They were rescued and sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

In the afternoon, the workers were working on the cutting of the pump room at the end of the ship. At this time suddenly the tank inside the pump exploded. 10 workers were injured. Kamal Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sitakunda Police Station, said that the explosion occurred during the cutting work inside the pump room of the scrap ship in the shipwreck factory. 10 workers were injured due to fire. I learned that they are currently under treatment at Chamek Hospital. Police were dispatched to the spot after receiving the report of the explosion. Legal action will be taken in this regard.
