Lakhs of people left the capital a day earlier on Wednesday to enjoy the joy of Eid with their loved ones. There are also many people on the roof of the bus-launch-train. Some were also seen crammed into empty pickups or trucks.
Traffic congestion and careless behavior of transport drivers-workers-workers have been seen in every terminal area. The haphazard parking of vehicles in the terminal area has obstructed the movement of other vehicles.
As in the past few days, the transport workers have collected additional fares. Again seen in some terminals, there are cars. But there are no passengers. Still they collected more than the stipulated rent. Various transport workers were heard shouting for passengers.
Tickets for good transport companies at Gabtali Terminal are sold out in advance. As a result, the pressure of regular passengers was less. The counters were not crowded. The vehicles could not leave the Mohakhali Terminal on time. Due to the traffic congestion on the roads in the northern part of the country, vehicles took extra time to enter the terminal. Especially the passengers of Mymensingh-bound cars had to face great irony. Many people are seen sitting in the terminal after buying tickets. The vehicle left three to four hours after the scheduled time. Even after getting on the bus, two to three hours passed after crossing Joydevpur intersection. Women, children and adults have to suffer in the intense heat.
Although there is no passenger pressure at Fulbaria terminal, the bus workers have collected more fares. A passenger said that at another time he went to Barisal for Tk 500 to Tk 600. On Wednesday, the manager of the BRTC bus counter demanded Tk 1,000 from him. Counter manager Ismat Ali said that the buses are returning empty. That is why you have to pay more rent. Apart from this, they have nothing to do.
In Jatrabari and Syedabad areas, cars were parked on the Hanif flyover and on the flyover. Buses of unreputed companies are calling passengers to Shariatpur, Maijdi. Ali Hasan, the driver of Welcome Paribahan, who was going to Swarupkathi, said that this time the passengers left Dhaka earlier. For this reason, there are no passengers on the day before Eid. And those who have booked advance tickets before the day they go. As it is Padma Bridge, many people leave on their own motorcycles.
The launch workers said that the hardships of the launch owners have started since the construction of the Padma bridge. Passengers are not available in the launch as before. There are not many passengers this Eid.
Kamalapur station was crowded with passengers. Although no passenger from Kamalapur had a chance to climb on the roof, many people were seen climbing on the roof of the train with bags after stopping at the airport station. The number of rooftop passengers has increased to Gazipur.
