Fakhrul urged advisers not to make political parties opponents

Addressing the advisors of the interim government, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, please do not make political parties or politics your opponents. Political parties are supporting you.

He said this at a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of Shaheed Intellectuals Day at Engineers Institution auditorium in the capital on Friday (December 13).

Mirza Fakhrul said, when an adviser says that political parties are working to defeat the interim government, it is a very serious allegation. I strongly condemn it, protest it and I think that such statement should be retracted.

He said, please don't make political parties or politics your opponent. Political parties are supporting you. It's your responsibility to be there if you say it's working to fail. We have said a thousand times, our chairman has said, failure to form this government means the people will fail, we will fail. So why do you say such things?

BNP Secretary General said, BNP has to work until democracy is institutionalized in the country.

Mirza Fakhrul said, there is a lot of work ahead. As long as we can make democracy a culture, a culture, it will be a system, that's where we have to get to. So we have a lot of work to do.

He said, we are talking about democracy, that democracy is not a word. It's a culture – it's a culture. How to talk to you-I, how to talk to my neighbor, how to talk to my political opponent, we have to learn through democracy.

BNP Secretary General said, our main history, today is independent Bangladesh, today we are dreaming of a new Bangladesh through the popular uprising of 24 with this history, let's not distort that history. History has been distorted for the past 15 years, so now I request everyone to be vigilant so that history is not distorted.

Mirza Fakhrul said, every moment now we have to step with caution. We need to measure every word. We will not say anything that will spoil our victory, destroy our achievement.

He said, they (Awami League) are doing a lot of propaganda, lies which are very negative for Bangladesh, for this revolution. So you have to respond to democracy and people through social media. The leaders and workers of BNP should be more involved in social media including Facebook and Twitter and speak out against the lies and propaganda of Awami League.

Under the chairmanship of Mirza Fakhrul and moderated by Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tukur, the party's standing committee members Abdul Moin Khan, Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, economist Professor Mahbub Ullah, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamun Ahmed and others attended the discussion.
