Farooq Ahmed can be the president of BCB

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon has been in hiding since the fall of the Awami League government. He was also serving as the BCB chief after getting the responsibility of youth and sports minister after the last parliamentary elections. But in the current political context of the country, it is no longer possible for him to perform the duties of the board president. A director of BCB said that Papon himself has agreed to leave the post of president.

In this, all activities of BCB have come to a standstill. As a result, efforts are underway to restructure the BCB. Farooq Ahmed, the former captain of the national team and chief selector, can get the responsibility.

Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, sports adviser of the interim government, has already discussed with him. This meeting was held with him yesterday night after returning from abroad. Farooq Ahmed also admitted progress in becoming the BCB president.

But the process by which he will be made the president is yet to be finalised. As a former captain, he is the councilor of BCB. But for the time being he may be made director of the board from NSC. After that, the responsibility of the president will be given.

The present board has two councilors from NSC. They are Jalal Yunus and Ahmed Sazzadul Alam Bobby. They may have to move. Nazmul Abedin Fahim can be Farooq's partner in this place.

The sports advisor spoke about the reorganization of BCB at the secretariat on Sunday. He said, we said we will reform the system, not the individual. Change is certain to happen to those who have corrupted the system. But the thing about the board is that there is a constitution, those who will come or get the responsibility should make the constitution more democratic.
