Farooq's case against Harun and Biplab in the incident 13 years ago

BNP leader Zainul Abedin Farooq has filed a case against former DB chief Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner (Operations) Biplab Kumar Sarkar for attempted murder in an incident 13 years ago.

On Monday (August 19) at noon, he himself filed a case at Sherebangla Nagar police station in the capital.

In 2011, Farooq was injured by the police baton near the Sangsad Bhavan during the hartal program called by BNP. At that time ABM Ashraf Uddin Nizam, then Member of Parliament of Lakshmipur-4 Constituency, was present at the scene. In this incident, when he went to file a case at the police station, the police did not take the case.

It is said in the complaint of the case that Zainul Abedin Farooq was killed by the police with sticks and boots. On the day of the incident, a case was also filed against Farooq for obstructing government work by the police.

In this regard, Zainul Abedin Farooq said, earlier the police did not take our cases. Now the country is independent so we can talk in any way. So I filed a case today in an incident 13 years ago. Former DB chief Harun and Biplab Kumar Sarkar were in charge then. So a case has been filed against them.
