The fire service and civil defense have launched a hotline number to stand by the people trapped in water due to heavy rains and high water levels across the country. The activities of this monitoring cell, established centrally in the Directorate, started from 5 pm on Wednesday (21 August).
According to the message sent by the media cell of the fire service, the hotline number 102 of the fire service and the regular phone number of the central control room 02223355555 will remain open for any service related to the rescue work of flood-affected areas across the country.
Besides, mobile number 01713-038181 can be used for round-the-clock communication with the monitoring cell. Apart from this, by calling the National Emergency Service 999, the related services of the Fire Service can be availed.
In addition to the monitoring cell, the fire stations of the flood-affected areas and the departmental control rooms can also avail 24-hour disaster rescue services.
Meanwhile, the flood situation has worsened in eight districts of the country including Feni, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Comilla. Village after village is floating in Brahmanbaria, Habiganj, Moulvibazar Noakhali. Thousands of people are trapped in water. More than 150 villages of Parshuram, Phulgazi and Chagalnaya upazilas of Feni have been inundated by the third round of floods. The waters of Muhuri, Kahua and Ceylonia rivers flow 180 cm above the water line at Parashuram Point. 24 parts of the broken dam and some places overflowing the dam, water is entering the locality.
