Flood in 11 districts, death increased to 31


The death toll in the ongoing floods in 11 districts of the country has increased by four more to 31. Earlier on Tuesday this number was 27 people.

This information is known from the report of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (up to 1 pm) on Wednesday (August 28).

According to the report, the number of flood-affected districts is 11 (Feni, Comilla, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Laxmipur and Cox's Bazar). 73 upazilas were flooded and 528 unions and municipalities were affected.

A total of 12 lakh 27 thousand 554 families have become watertight in 11 districts. The number of affected people is 58 lakh 22 thousand 734 people. The number of dead persons is 31 (Comilla-12, Feni-2, Chittagong-5, Khagrachari-1, Noakhali-6, Brahmanbaria-1, Laxmipur-1 and Cox's Bazar-3). Number of missing persons 2 (Moulvibazar).

A total of 4,300 shelters have been opened to provide shelter to waterlogged and affected people and a total of 5,40,510 people and 39,531 cattle have been sheltered in the shelters. A total of 619 medical teams are operational to provide medical care to the victims of 11 districts.
