At least 49 people have died in Nigeria after floods caused by heavy rains. Thousands of people have become homeless due to this flood in the northeastern part of the country. Reuters news.

NEMA spokesperson Manzo Ezekiel said, 'Several days of heavy rains have created dire conditions in Jigawa, Adamawa and Taraba states in the north-east. 41 thousand 344 people have been displaced in these states.
In 2022, Nigeria experienced its worst floods in over a decade. More than 600 people died in the country then. More than 14 lakh people were displaced. About 440 thousand hectares of agricultural land was destroyed.
The ongoing floods in the West African country have already destroyed around 693 hectares of agricultural land. Concerned officials have expressed apprehension that there may be heavy rains in the country for the next few months.
Haruna Mairiga of Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency said, 'September and October are still ahead. September rains more than August. So only God knows best what will be the state of the kingdom then.'
The Nigerian government fears that 31 of the country's 36 states could experience 'high floods' this year.
