Forest land in Gazipur freed from encroachment by the intervention of advisers

The forest land of Chandra Ban bit of Gazipur has been cleared of encroachment.

On Monday (August 19) under the direction of Adviser on Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the forest department recovered the forest land in cooperation with the upazila administration, RAB and the army. During the operation, several illegal structures were vacated in the forest area.

On August 14, an attempt was made to construct a permanent market illegally in the gazetted forest land of Kalampur Mauza of Chandra Bit, Gazipur. The forest workers were attacked by the encroachers when the forest department obstructed the construction of the under-construction market. Before this, a group of squatters had been illegally occupying the area for a long time.

Environment Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan instructed RAB to take necessary measures when the issue of illegal occupation of forest land was informed recently.
