Ghislaine Maxwell was offered a limited form of immunity before she agreed to two consecutive days of questioning from the Department of Justice, sources told ABC News.

Sources say that Maxwell, who is serving a 20 year sentence for assisting her ex-boyfriend Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse, had initiated the meeting.

Proffer immunity is typically granted for individuals that prosecutors are seeking to cooperate with the government in a criminal case, in exchange for limited protection against self-incrimination.
