Governor advises not to buy S Alam's land and assets

The Central Bank has suspended all banking transactions, loans, LCs of S Alam Group and its related persons and entities. Now the company is trying to sell various land-assets held in the name and name.

Legal process is needed to prevent them. Therefore, the governor of Bangladesh Bank has advised not to buy the land and assets of S. Alam Group at this time in the interest of the state. Ahsan H. Mansoor.

The governor said these things in a press conference at Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday (August 28).

Referring to S. Alam's bank robbery, the governor said, “I don't know if there is another case of bank robbery in the world that uses the state machinery.” Such events are rare in the world.

S Alam Group is secretly selling assets for fear of confiscation. Bangladesh Bank is unable to intervene due to legal complications. It is alleged that S Alam Group is selling land through others with power of attorney.

In response to a question in this regard, the governor said, we will appeal to the countrymen, none of you should buy the land and assets of the S Alam Group. We want to sell these lands and assets through legal process and spend on protecting the depositors. We will inform the government about this.

Earlier, the Financial Intelligence Unit has sought the bank account information of several members of the family, including Mohammad Saiful Alam, owner of the controversial business group S Alam Group, his six brothers, wife and two sons. At the same time, bank accounts and other information maintained in the name of organizations related to their interests have also been sought.

The financial intelligence agency Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BIFU) sent instructions in this regard to all banks on Sunday (August 25). A total of 13 individuals and their related organizations were subpoenaed for their financial information.
