Granddad Gets Elevator at Home, Internet Not Prepared for His Entrance

A granddad has made a game show-worthy entrance in his new home elevator, leaving internet users in hysterics.

Granddaughter Chloe McNicholas (@chloe.mcnicholas) captured him making the unforgettable arrival into the living room in his mobility device.

The video is captioned, “No likey no lightyyyyyy” in a playful nod to popular British dating game show Take Me Out. And the footage shows the granddad descending into the room with a beaming smile that could rival that of any TV host, as the game show’s theme tune plays over the clip.

Take Me Out, hosted by British comedian Paddy McGuinness, featured single men trying to win the affection of a panel of women by impressing them in various ways.

If the women weren’t interested, they turned off the light in front of them—a moment often accompanied by McGuinness’ catchphrase, “No likey, no lighty.”

The granddad’s entrance—which has garnered 1.3 million likes and 11 million views on TikTok—perfectly mimics the dramatic reveals that the show, whose final episode aired in 2020, is known for.

The man’s sleek, modern home elevator features a transparent door that allows viewers to fully appreciate his joyful expression as he comes into view.

Home lifts like this are becoming increasingly popular, offering a stylish and practical solution for those who need assistance moving between floors.

According to Lachlan Faulkner, co-founder of Stiltz, these lifts are not just functional but can also be a striking feature in the home, designed to blend in with the decor while providing easy access for everyone.

The internet couldn’t get enough of the granddad’s entrance, with commenters flooding the post with laughter and praise.

“Real life Barbie in his dream house,” one user joked, drawing a parallel between the man’s descent and the doll’s glamorous elevator.

Another viewer couldn’t resist the Take Me Out reference, commenting: “Single man… reveal yourself!”

The jokes rolled in, with one commenter sharing: “My Granddad had one of them too but got rid of it as it was driving him up the wall.”

Others imagined themselves making similar entrances, with one user saying: “This would be my concert performance entrance,” while another said: “THIS IS SO FUNNY, I’M SCREAMING.”

To top it all off, several viewers found a resemblance between the granddad and a certain British royal. “Had to glance twice, thought it was King Charles,” one person remarked.

While Take Me Out was a huge hit in the UK, it didn’t have quite the same level of success in the U.S.

There was a brief attempt to introduce the format, with a U.S. version hosted by George Lopez, but it didn’t catch on in the same way.

Newsweek reached out to @chloe.mcnicholas for comment via TikTok. We could not verify the details of the case.
