The Meteorological Department has predicted a gusty wind with a speed of 80 km per hour over the Sylhet division by 9 am. Such information has been given in a forecast for the internal river ports of the country from 2.30 pm to 1 pm on Saturday (May 18).
In the warning issued for the river port, the Meteorological Office said that between 2.30 am and 1.00 pm, stormy winds with a speed of 60-80 km per hour may blow temporarily over Sylhet areas from west and north-west direction. The river ports in these areas have been asked to display naval warning signal number 2.
Besides, there may be temporary gusty or windy rain or thundershower over Jessore, Dhaka and Chittagong regions from West or North-West direction at a speed of 45 to 60 km per hour. The river ports in these areas have been asked to display the number one warning signal.
Meanwhile, the weather report given on Friday evening informed that there may be temporary gusty or windy rain or rain with thunder in some places of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and a couple of places of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Barisal divisions for the next 24 hours from Friday evening. Along with this, there is a risk of scattered hailstorms at some places.
In the forecast for the next 24 hours, storm and hailstorm may continue in some places of Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and a couple of places in Rangpur, Dhaka and Barisal divisions, according to the weather report.
