Heavy hail accompanied by gale force winds and rain hit the capital Dhaka in the middle of the night. Along with the storm, light winds are blowing in different parts of the country including the capital. It feels cool.

On Sunday (March 24) around two o'clock in the night, rain started with gusty winds in various areas of the capital including Dhanmondi, Jigatla. Big rocks started falling. At that time there was gusty wind and thunder.

Earlier on Saturday (March 23) evening, the Meteorological Department had predicted thundershowers in seven divisions including Dhaka. The river ports in those areas were ordered to display warning signal No. 1, informing them of wind speed of 60 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, the 72-hour weather report said that the extension of western low pressure is staying over West Bengal and nearby areas. Seasonal normal low pressure is located over South Bay of Bengal.

In this situation, from Saturday night to Sunday (March 24) evening, there may be stormy wind and rain with thunder in one or two places in Dhaka, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. During this time, the daytime temperature may increase by 1-2 degrees Celsius.

Apart from this, in the next 24 hours from Sunday evening, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions are likely to experience stormy winds and rain with thunder, said the Meteorological Department. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky. Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country during this time.

And in the next 24 hours from Monday (March 25) evening, there may be thundershowers at one or two places in Dhaka, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. Night and day temperatures may remain almost unchanged.

And the temperature may rise further in the extended five days, said the Meteorological Department.
