Haji Salim arrested

Former Member of Parliament of Dhaka-7 parliamentary constituency Haji Mohammad Salim has been arrested by the Detective (DB) Police. He was arrested from Bangshal in the capital on Sunday (01 September) night.

Dhaka Metropolitan Intelligence Police Joint Commissioner (North) confirmed the matter. Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan. He said that a team of DB police arrested former member of parliament Haji Mohammad Salim. There are several cases against him including murder.

According to DB sources, the police were looking for Haji Salim in several cases. Later on Sunday night, he was arrested from Bangshal. Then he was taken to the DB office. He will be handed over to the court on Monday (September 2) after being arrested in a case.

Earlier this Awami League leader was attacked by students during the quota reform movement last July. A video of the incident went viral on social media. Later he went to the hospital and took shelter.

Incidentally, he was sentenced to 13 years in 2008 in the case of the Anti-Corruption Commission on the charge of acquiring illegal wealth. Later in 2022, the High Court reduced this sentence to 10 years.
