Harrison Burton clinched his first NASCAR Cup Series race victory in the 2024 Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway, after which he shared an emotional moment with has father and NASCAR icon, Jeff Burton.

The victory’s significance was magnified by Leigh Diffey’s commentary alongside Jeff. Diffey commented during the broadcast:

“Jeff, your little boy has done it!”

As Harrison was seen celebrating after the race, Jeff ran to give his son a hug in a heartwarming moment.

This moment drew inevitable comparisons to historical NASCAR moments, such as Ned Jarrett’s emotional call as his son Dale clinched victory, and Darrell Waltrip experiencing his brother Michael’s Daytona 500 win.

Speaking about his maiden victory after the race, Burton commented, as Newsweek previously reported:

“I cried the whole victory lap. Obviously got fired from this job. I wanted to do everything for the Wood Brothers that I could. They’ve given me an amazing opportunity in life. To get them 100 on my way out is amazing. We’re in the playoffs now. Let’s go to Darlington and see what happens.

“It’s been the hardest three years of my life, obviously the hardest three years for some of these guys’ lives. To win the way we just did, beat the best in the business, Kyle Busch, across the line, it’s pretty fantastic.”
