Patuakhali is receiving heavy rainfall under the influence of low pressure. The district has recorded 153.9 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
The District Meteorological Office recorded this rainfall in 24 hours from 9 am on Monday (19 August) to 9 am today on Tuesday (20 August).
Due to continuous moderate to heavy rains for the past 5 days, public life has come to a standstill. Low income earners are suffering.
On the other hand, Aman farmers are worried because the canal bill is submerged in rain water. The monsoon vegetable farmers have been affected.
Meanwhile, under the influence of low pressure, the Bay of Bengal adjacent to Kuakata is very rough. Local warning signal No. 03 has been asked to be displayed at all sea ports including Pyara due to fear of stormy winds blowing through the coastal areas. All fishing trawlers have been asked to move safely away from the coast. However, thousands of fishing trawlers have taken refuge in the Khaprabhanga river harbors of Mohipur and Alipur for the last one week due to rough seas. Fishermen are spending idle time.
Yasin Majhi, a fisherman of Moazzempur village of Mohipur union, said that we came to the shore because of the rough sea last week. Now we are having a lazy time. If the weather is not good, it will be very difficult to move with our family.
Hossain Miah, van driver of Kuakata city, said that it has been raining for a few days. There is less traffic in the market. Due to which we have no income.
Patuakhali District Meteorological Office Officer-in-Charge Mahbooba Sukhi said that rainfall may continue for the next 24 hours. Along with that, stormy wind can blow.
