HSC exam may be postponed, auto pass decision may come


The Board of Inter-Education released the routine for conducting the remaining HSC and equivalent examinations which were postponed due to the ongoing emergency situation in the country. As per the new routine, the postponed exams were scheduled to be held on September 11. However, the rescheduled schedule (routine) may be cancelled.

The final decision will be taken in the meeting of Morcha Inter Education Board Coordination Committee of 11 Education Boards on Tuesday (August 20). Education Ministry and Dhaka Education Board sources have confirmed this information. Besides, the officials of the board have also informed the students who protested all day in the education board.

It is known that the examination of some HSC and equivalent subjects has been held as per the schedule. And due to the quota reform movement, the examination of some subjects was postponed. After the fall of the government in the students' movement, the education boards could not conduct the examination even with the revised new timetable.

After the formation of the interim government, the schedule has again been released for holding the postponed exams. As per the rearranged schedule, the postponed exams are scheduled to begin from September 11. However, students do not want to sit for the exam.

Taking into account the overall situation of the country, the candidates have raised the demand of making the results based on the results of Auto Pass or SSC. He started a movement with this. Since the release of the new schedule on August 15, students have organized human chains, protests and sit-ins in various districts of the country including Dhaka.

On Monday (August 19) as well, candidates took to the streets demanding auto pass across the country including the capital. Besides, Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Boards were surrounded and officials were blocked.

Students claim that many of their classmates have been injured by taking part in the protest movement. They are under treatment. Moreover, there were reports of question papers and answer sheets kept in different police stations being burnt. In such a situation they don't want to take part in the remaining subjects.

The inter-education board coordination committee has informed the Ministry of Education about the demands of the students regarding the HSC examination. Then the senior secretary of secondary and higher education department. Abdur Rashid has given instructions to cancel the declared routine for the time being. At the same time, on Tuesday (August 20), the final decision will be taken in the meeting of the education adviser, secretary, chairmen of all the boards.

When asked, President of Inter Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Prof. Tapan Kumar Sarkar said, “We informed the demands of the students in the ministry. From there some instructions are given. A meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday. Education advisors, secretaries, board chairmen will participate there. Everything will be final there.

HSC and equivalent exams started on June 30. After 8 days of examinations as per routine, all examinations on July 18 were postponed due to the situation surrounding the quota reform movement. After that, the government suspended the examination for three more rounds.

According to the schedule, there are still 13 days of 61 subject exams to be conducted. So many exams are stuck due to different subjects of different departments (Science, Humanities and Commerce). Although every student has to appear in the examination in 13 subjects. Among them four subjects of compulsory Bengali and English (first and second papers) and ICT. 8 subjects are optional.
