Hysterics as Baby Vetoes Every Song in Mom’s Repertoire: ‘She Said Skip’

A mom is calling for help after exhausting the list of songs she has to sing to her baby in order to get her to fall asleep.

In the viral clip, Chandler Bright attempts to serenade her 16-month-old with all the bedtime classics, but she is repeatedly met with a firm “no” from her fickle audience.

Bright told Newsweek that her baby was an early talker and began expressing her opinion on things very quickly. “Sometimes, she will like a song one day—let’s say itsy bitsy spider—but the next day I’ll get a ‘no’,” Bright said.

Lately, the mom of 2 has been trying to get her daughter to sleep by singing pop songs: “I’m not sure if she gives up on me, or if she actually likes some, but eventually she gives up on the ‘nos’ and settles in for her nap,” Bright added.

Baby vetoes every song
Chandler Bright, 31, told Newsweek that before she puts her baby down for a nap, or the night, she requests a song. But she has recently started saying “no” to all of her favorites.

The video begins with Bright singing the alphabet song, only to be interrupted with a “no” from her baby before she can even reach the letter E.

Undeterred, Bright moves onto “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” but once again, her daughter quickly dismisses the classic nursery rhyme.

Not one to give up easily, Bright tries “Baa Baa Black Sheep,” but her baby vetoes the choice before she can finish the first line.

“My Favorite Things” seemed to be a promising choice as Bright paused to recall the lyrics while her baby watched expectantly. It was short-lived, as the little one came back with another “no.”

Luckily, Bright, who goes by @itsmemisscha on TikTok, was let off the hook with that one as she couldn’t remember the lyrics anyway.

The 31-year-old confirmed that she was open to recommendations at the end of her clip, prompting thousands of comments from other social media users sharing their suggestions.

One user recommended “You Are My Sunshine,” which they called a “certified hood classic.”

Many other users compared Bright’s struggle with their relationship to their Spotify accounts: “Me when my Spotify DJ just isn’t getting my vibe” one said. Another joked: “She said skip.”

Speaking on the reaction online, Bright told Newsweek that she never expected her video to become as popular as it did. She welcomed suggestions from others—and she’s trying to keep up with all the requests.

“It’s fun for me to find new things to sing to her. If only I could hit all the notes of the artists people are requesting, like Beyonce and Taylor Swift,” she told Newsweek.

With the song suggestions, let’s hope Bright finds one that will earn her daughter’s approval, or at least a little less of the “no.”
