I saw with itchy hands and no legs, Tamim was shot in the movement

Tamim Hossain took part in the joyous procession that took place in Mirpur after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. At one point, when the police opened fire on the procession, one bullet hit him in the leg.

'I still feel like my legs are the same. It is cut and thrown away, it is not remembered that it is not there. I feel the whole leg as before.'

15-year-old teenager Tamim Hossain was speaking on Friday (August 6) while sitting in a hospital bed. He was shot dead in the afternoon of August 5 in Mirpur, Dhaka.

Tamim Hossain of Dhaka used to study in a Hafeji madrasa. This year, he was admitted to the eighth grade of a secondary school from the madrasa.

The bullet entered and exited the back of his right leg. Tamim said, 'As soon as the bullets hit, I fell on the road. The entire right leg becomes paralyzed. Blood and blood. I could not walk easily. In that situation, I took refuge in the flyover of the road to escape from the bullets. After half an hour, when the firing stopped, I came down. Later people did not take me to the hospital.'

That day, he visited a hospital in Mirpur and took refuge in Pangu Hospital. From there to Heart Institute.

Tamim said, 'I dress for a few days. But slowly the place rots. Then from paralysis sent me to heart disease. After testing there, they said that the foot cannot be placed. It should be cut. Later, the paraplegic was seen by the doctors again. They say that there is no more opportunity to step.'

New complications started after Tamim's leg was amputated. Tamim could not cope with the situation without legs.

Three weeks have passed since the operation. But the eighth-grader still feels the 'strange' feeling of having a leg despite losing it.

He said, 'I could not sleep for the first three-four days. I thought my whole leg was intact. I still feel the pain where the shot hit my leg. But that leg has been amputated. Sometimes itchy. When I was itching, I saw that there were no legs. When I had legs, it felt like a mosquito bite or an ant bite. My feet started to itch. Ants bite. But actually there is nothing.'

Tamim is now trying to get used to his new life. But he also realizes that his lifestyle has changed forever. He said, 'I am now trying to walk on crutches. I used to play football. I remember them. My friends will play. But I can't play – they seem. My mother says, the doctor will fix your leg and you can play.'

But whatever the situation, Tamim is not giving up on the future. Dreaming of becoming an engineer. Tamim said, 'Abu Saeed brother is dead. Many were injured. I couldn't sit down either. My mother forbade me, but I did not listen. Now I think, I myself went to the movement with courage. A part of myself is gone, no regrets. But let the country be good.'
