Illegal fishing in Singra, case against 8 activists of BNP

A case has been filed in the name of 8 BNP leaders and activists, including municipal BNP joint convener Ruhul Amin, on the charge of illegal fishing by bannar dam in Singra, Natore.

Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer said on Thursday night. Shahadat Hossain was the plaintiff and filed this case under the Fish Protection and Conservation Act at Singra Police Station.

According to the statement of the case, it is known that the BNP leaders and activists were hunting fish through the illegal banna dam in the area of ​​Patkol Bill and Patkol Bailey Bridge of Singra Municipality. Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Shahadat Hossain conducted an operation with the help of police and army from August 31 to September 4 on such charges. He filed a case under section 5 of Fisheries Protection and Conservation Act, 1950 in the name of 8 BNP leaders and activists for removing illegal dams in the campaign.

BNP workers Rana, Matin, Karim, Zafar, Rajib, Farooq and Dulal have been made accused in the case, apart from Municipal BNP Joint Convener Ruhul Amin.

In this regard, Singra Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Shahadat Hossain said that for quite some time, some people have been illegally hunting fish from Banar Dam. I conducted raids with the help of police and army and registered cases against 8 people.

Singra police station OC Abul Kalam said, on Thursday night, the senior upazila fisheries officer filed a case against 8 people under the Fisheries Protection and Conservation Act. Legal action is being taken in this regard.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ha-meem Tabassum Prabha said, on the charge of illegal hunting of fish through Baner Dam, the dam was removed by conducting an operation and a case was filed against 8 people under the Fisheries Protection and Conservation Act. The operation to remove illegal bamboo dams and nets will continue.
